The non-profit and charitable foundation “Haus der Bauern” (House of Farmers), with its registered office at Am Markt 2, in Schwäbisch Hall, Germany, was founded in 2012. It is the social and sociopolitical foundation of the association of agricultural producers “Bäuerliche Erzeugergemeinschaft Schwäbisch Hall”, an association of 1,450 farms in the Hohenlohe region in Baden-Württemberg.
The “Haus der Bauern” foundation supports freedom, self-determination and social fairness for the agricultural and rural population. It is committed to sustainable actions and future-viable economics.
In addition to its activities in support of the rural population, the foundation is also committed to the enforcement of fundamental democratic rights of indigenous populations in rural regions around the world. In particular, it advocates the development of enforceable protection standards for the indigenous knowledge and resources of the small-scale producers and native inhabitants within the framework of a “Peasants’ Rights” charter.
It supports the efforts of international organisations in the development of a globally valid charter for the rights of small farmers and contributes to the international cooperation of peasants interest groups.
